Reese’s Brownies

What could possibly make brownies any better? How about topping them with the salty, peanut buttery goodness that is a Reese's peanut butter cup. These brownies are filled with a warm fudge ripple and melted chocolate chunks. When you need a pan of brownies to a) seriously impress someone or b) soothe a broken heart THESE ARE THE BROWNIES FOR YOU. If you're a peanut butter addict like me, add a little (or a big) drizzle of melted peanut butter after you take the brownies out of the oven. You won't regret it.

Ingredients
  • 1 stick Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 8 Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  • For Fudge Ripple
  • 1/2 cup Milk chocolate chunks
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp Half / Half
  • 1 pinch Salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and grease an 8x8 pan.
  2. Melt 1 stick of butter and add to a medium bowl. Add sugar and beat with an electric mixer until combined. Add cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder, and fold into mixture until well combined. Set bowl aside.
  3. Roughly chop 1/4 C of the milk chocolate chunks and add into batter, folding to combine.
  4. In a small sauce pan, add 2 Tbsp of butter and half and half, melting on low heat. Add remaining 1/4 c of chocolate and stir, making sure the chocolate doesn't get too hot. You should be able to touch the chocolate no problem. Add chocolate fudge to batter and fold into mixture a few times, without over mixing. It should be swirled throughout your batter.
  5. Add batter to greased pan. Roughly chop Reese's peanut butter cups and sprinkle evenly over top of the brownies.
  6. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes. Brownies will still be slightly gooey in the center but shouldn't jiggle too much in the center of the pan. Remove from oven and let col for 5 - 10 minutes before cutting into brownies.
